Siem Reap Scams

Posted by ngounsominea on November 3, 2014 at 11:30 PM Comments comments (0)

One of the biggest scams in Siem Reap is the "Baby Milk" scam outside the local mini marts. A "mother" begs for baby formula for her baby. Tourists buy a can ($10-$20) and as soon as the tourists leave, she returns the can & splits the money with the mini mart.

Cambodian babies rarely have formula and people live on $1 a day on average. If the scamming mother gets 4 cans a day then she is making $20 a day - a huge sum.
